Igor Mikhailovich Bounin (born on February 25, 1946) is a Russian Political Scientist and Technologist.
In 1970, he graduated from M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, and in 1973 he completed a post-graduate course at Institute of the World Economy and International Relationships (IWEIR) of Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He received a degree of Doctor of Politics.
From 1973 to 1982, he was a Research Officer, Senior Research Officer at IWEIR of Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
From 1982 to 1992, he was a Senior Research Office of Institute of Comparative Political Science and Labour Movement of Academy of Sciences of the USSR – RAN.
From 1992 to 1993, he was an expert of ‘Gorbachev Fund’, Director of ‘Expertiza’ Business Research Center
Since August 1993, he has been Director General of Fund ‘Political Technologies Center’. Since May 2001, he has simultaneously been Director of Political Comments Information Site ‘Политком.ру’. From 2005 to 2006, he acted as President of Fund of ‘Russian Social and Political Center’ (due to death of Ex-President of Fund A.M. Samalin). Since December 2007, he has been the President of ‘Political Technologies Center’.
He is one of the leading experts in the newest history of France (social structure and political system) and modern Russian politics. He was one of the founders Association of Political Consultancy Centers and Fund of Parliamentarism Development in Russia. He is a creator of the first in Russia regular political monitoring, founder of Russian consulting school working with entrepreneurs and their associations. Under his supervision, there was issued a collection book ‘Businessmen of Russia: 40 Stories of Success’ (1994) that is the first collective portrait of Russian business. According to Vyacheslav Nikonov, ‘Igor Bounin is a lecturer and a leader of the whole political workshop’. Since 1993, he has been an active participant in election campaigns as a Political Technologist.
